Our ‘Conceptual Series’ is a project that gives us an opportunity to unleash our imaginations and dream up hypothetical spaces with aesthetics that we we might not typically get the chance to explore in our regular design work. ‘Urban Loft’ is inspired by the transformations of abandoned factories into stunning industrial lofts. Oftentimes, these buildings’ original exposed brick and concrete are preserved, leaving a beautiful foundation to build upon. While making the selections for this space, I couldn’t help but envision the owner as an artist, pursuing their dreams in the city, which inspired me to infuse an overall artistic motif to this design. As for structural finishes, I added a walnut flooring to offset the coldness of the concrete. The warmth of the wood, paired with the original exposed brick, creates a cozy atmosphere, while still embracing the industrial feel with the concrete coffee table and aged metal easel.
